Peter Luger, Great Neck.

Last night I had a very nice time with Jackie and her family for her grandmas birthday. We caught the train upstate with her sister and her sister's boyfriend. We went to the Peter Luger Steakhouse in Great Neck and was totally spoiled. I ate lots of steak, spinach, their signature thick slice bacon and fries. Was very nice as the photos will show.

NBA Game - Nets vs Clippers

March11_clippersvsnets

It's been a while since I have posted anything, but that's because I have been very busy with work. Anyway, tonight I was lucky enough to score a couple free tickets to the Nets vs Clippers game at Prudential Center, NJ. Big thanks to Steph for the tickets!

I took my new camera (Sony NEX-5) and took a couple snaps from our seats and also this panoramic shot using the new sweep setting.

RUB BBQ with Jackie

Last night, Jackie and I went for a quick dinner at Rub BBQ. We shared 10 BBQ Chicken Wings and literally, a gigantic beef rib with cornbread and some greens. Very nice but now I gotta hit the gym!

Cooking with Jackie

Tonight, Jackie and I decided to cook dinner. We went to Eataly and picked up some fresh pasta and also some spicy sausages. We cooked it with some tomato sauce and put some Parmesan cheese on top.

For desert, we made a fruit salad with some frozen yoghurt. Everything was delish!

Dinner at The Spotted Pig

Had dinner with Jackie tonight at The Spotted Pig. We shared the burger and the pork belly. The wait was 40 minutes, which I think is pretty good as it's normally much busier.

So full. It's bed time now, goodnight.

LA and back (Part 2).

Part 2 of my photos from LA.

LA and back (Part 1).

I have had a really busy last 10 days. I found out that I had to fly to LA for work and so I was both excited and eager to take on the challenge that awaited me. It was tough too. The 3 hour time difference really seemed to mess me around a bit, as I found myself waking up at 6am most mornings. It's amazing how much just 3 hours can make a difference to your body, particularly when compared to traveling from Sydney to New York, where I didn't really feel that jet lagged after the long flight.

Anyway, the weather in LA was amazing as you can see from some of the photos. I was there for the first few days with a couple co-workers then I was on my own for the next week and a bit. We stayed at Hotel Roosevelt, which has a alot of history in the Hollywood area. It was a great hotel, with good facilities and was also a good location. I was only about a mile away from where I was working. I was eager to try many foods while in LA as I got many recommendations from friends. I ended up though, having many burgers and only had Mexican once which was surprising.

Besides working long hours, which was expected, I got to visit Santa Monica and Venice Beach for a bit. I also got to eat at several spots, like In N Out Burger, Blue Plate Oysterette, Father's Office, The Library Ale House, to name a few. All of which were great. I was also lucky enough to goto one of the Foo Fighters secret shows, held at Spaceland Club. It was an awesome show, which I took a couple photos of with my new NEX-5. I also got to meet them after their soundcheck - really cool guys, very laid back and down to earth.

Although the job that I was working on is not completely finished, it's in a very good place and I am glad I got the chance to come here and work more closely with the management because it definitely saved a lot of back and forth that usually happens over the phone or email.

That's it for now - enjoy the pics.

New apartment

Finally moved all my stuff and unpacked. I'm really excited about this new space. I think it's going to be great. Looking forward to buying some stuff to give the place some more character, like posters, plants and cool furniture.

A special Australia Day in NYC.

I had a great time celebrating Australia Day with a bunch of friends here. We went to The Australian, which is on 38th st between 5th and 6th ave. It's a pretty small bar so it got crowded very fast, particularly as Jamie Durie was there. We stayed there for a few drinks before ending up next door at an Irish Bar. It was actually much better here, as it was less crowded and in some way it felt more Australian to be at an Irish bar. Anyways, we stayed there for a while and a great time with some special people (you know who you are). Only got a couple photos from the night.

Then today, which I had scheduled to take work, ended up being a snow day as the Sony offices were closed down. I think the city got somewhere like 18 inches of snow, which is total craziness! Check out some of the photos from around my neighborhood. You'll see a couple cars completely covered in snow. Anyways, we just chilled today, got some Thai food and relaxed. It's been a really good past week :)
